Don Weller/Bobby Wellins 'Nine Songs'

Just released is a fine recording of Bobby Wellins and Don Weller playing a series of four tunes each individually and one together in settings featuring the arrangements of Mark Edwards. The album is called 'Nine Songs'

Bobby Wellins is, aged 71, is at the top of his game as shown on Norma Winstones' 'Amoroso Only More So' and plays a particularly beautiful rendition of 'Cabin In The Sky'. Don Weller is equally lyrical on tunes such as 'Soul Eyes' and 'We'll Be Together Again'.

The arrangements include a subtle incorporation of a string quartet, and a clarinet choir played by Alan Barnes.
